A newly described natural orchid hybrid from Veracruz, where two Laeliinae lineages meet in the cloud forest.

× Dinedema mariae is Orchidarc's first formal taxonomic contribution: a natural hybrid and nothogenus described from the Mexican cloud forest belt.
The nothogenus combines Dinema and Nidema. The name Dinedema evokes a nest-crown, reflecting the union of two small Laeliinae lineages in the cloud forest.
The plant is a miniature epiphyte associated with humid forest microhabitats. As with many small Laeliinae and Pleurothallidinae, its conservation depends on preserving the fine-scale structure of mossy branches, shaded trunks and intact forest humidity.
Natural hybrids are not simply curiosities. They reveal contact zones, pollinator movement and the evolutionary dynamics of fragmented orchid communities. For Orchidarc, × Dinedema mariae is also evidence that careful field documentation can still reveal overlooked diversity in Veracruz.
